I recently retired and moved to the area to be close to relatives. The MERC, in a great walking area was a terrific find. From the leasing staff to all involved in maintenance the service has been excellent. I look forward to the social events I've read about and to enjoying the outdoor areas in the Spring.

After one year management hiked my rent over $200 and repeatedly said that’s the best they could do. Then, they listed the exact same apartment right below me for $250 less. Very painful experience to stay here and feel totally used every day. Wish I could give less than 1 star.

The Merc looks very modern and nice but lacks in everything else. It is noisy most of the time and their leasing & maintenance staff are sooooooooo rude and not helpful at all. They do not respect people's times and work orders are considered to be "favors."

I have lived at the Mercy at Moody and Main for almost a year..The apartments are very modern and brand new. There is a great sense of community here.People are friendly and more than willing to engage in conversations. There are monthly events to meet other residents and have a great time. The maintenance crew are very attentive to fixing any problem you have in a very timely enough manner. There is always someone on call.I call that a luxury in comparison to where I lived before. There is so... much security in living here which makes me feel safe and secure.I do not have to worry about strangers wandering the halls. The security the elevators is phenomenal. Not just anyone can get to your floor. That is very reassuring. I never hear dogs barking because of great insulation between the walls. They are always on leashes and very friendly. I enjoy seeing them. The leasing office is more than one can ask for. They know you by name and go out of their way to help in anyway possible.I always feel welcome there and all my concerns are always answered fully in a professional manner. They take note if you are not around and ask if everything is okay.Their priority is their residents and issues that may be cause for concern. I understand the parking situation because it is clearly stated. There were no surprises about that and and don't see it as a deterrent as to living here at the Merc. Furthermore I do not think it is a decision made by the Merc. There are ways around it. Grilling in the summer is always fun and the fitness room is great. The halls are always vacuumed and looking new. Residents take pride in the Merc and so does the leasing office. It is nice to have the common areas and socializing is up the residents not the Merc. You can ask a neighbor to go down and watch TV.It is up to you.You need to take the initiative and should not be seen as a negative to living here. They do plan events monthly to meet new people and get a bite to eat. There a a real sense of community and that is evident to me. I feel fortunate to be able to live here and suggest others to look at it as a option when looking for an apartment.

The Merc is modern, but very inconvenient to live at. There is no guest parking and they only built enough underground spots to provide 1 spot per unit regardless of the number of bedrooms. Sometimes they'll offer additional spots at $200 - $300 additional per month. They will blame "Boston Pricing", but this is not Boston. Most of the local "luxury apartments in the area provide free onsite/uncovered parking for all resident vehicles and guests. Be prepared to have constant fear of being towed... at $175/tow when parked on the surface lot even during appropriate times.
The place allows most dogs, but besides having a dog wash room it's not super dog friendly. There's virtually no grass for them to walk on and there not allowed really anywhere besides inside apartment units.
The amenities besides the gym close super early and the security guard will kick you out of the amenity areas past 10pm. The grills are constantly broken and take forever to fix. This place has potential to improve, but the contracts with the "commercial tenants" ensure they get preferential treatment towards parking. Compared to other similar places, the Merc isn't a very good place to meet neighbors. Nobody really hangs out in any of the common areas.
In regards to the inside of the apartments they're decent, but not great. There's nicer places for similar money. The floor plan in most units isn't ideal, as there is no real separation between the living rooms and kitchens. The appliances are decent and hardwood floor in the kitchen are decent but not top notch. The bedroom closests don't have door which can be a little annoying if you have pets or guests over. The apartments run extremely hot 365 days a year, so you'll likely need to run the A/C year round. Apartments in all buildings will maintain 75 degrees with the heat off. The rooms also heat unevenly, so some rooms will be much hotter than others.
The best and only reason to live and the Merc is if you want to live right on Moody Street.

Dear MERC Resident,
We appreciate the feedback regarding your views on living at The MERC on the corner of Moody and Main Street in Waltham. We apologize you feel the community is not convenient for you. We take extreme pride to make each resident... experience a positive one. I would be happy to direct you to the parking area for your guest. I know several of the resident love taking their dog across the street to the beautiful common with plenty of grass to run and play. We do include one parking spot in the rent and yes we do charge additional for a second spot which we believe is very competitive in Waltham/Watertown area. Our goal is to provide resident activity events monthly and I hope you have had an opportunity to attend one of the events. If you would like to sit down to discuss any of your additional concerns, I would be more than happy to meet with you. Thank you for your residency at The MERC.
